Shahsavan Nomads

Shahsavan Nomads is one of the tribes of Azarbaijan people that they live in the northwest of Iran like Moghan plane (Dashte Moghan), Urmia and Ardabil. In terminology Shahsavan means the people who love Shah (king). Tents are the accommodation and housing of Shahsavan nomads which is called Oba. You will have the chance to visit Sheikh Safi al-Din Khanegah and Shrine Ensemble in Ardabil that in 2010 it was registered on UNESCO World Heritage List and also other cultural sites in north and northwest of Iran.

Day 1. Tabriz City Tour, staying at a hotel in Tabriz (HB)

At first, we will visit the old Bazaar (market) of Tabriz which is the largest and oldest indoor market in the world that was registered on UNESCO World Heritage List and after that, the famous historic Blue Mosque in Tabriz. After lunch, we’ll go out to visit and walk into Kandovan Ancient Rocky Village, located in Sahand mountain slopes. We’ll return to our hotel in Tabriz for the night.

Day 2. Heading to Kaleybar (220 km) (by car), staying at a hotel in Kaleybar (HB)

Moving to Arasbaran Forests and Kaleybar then trekking to Babak Fort (main place of the political struggle of Babak Khorramdin, one of the main Persian revolutionary leaders). Finally, staying in Kaleybar Hotel.

Day 3. heading to Sabalan slope, staying at a camp near nomads (FB)

The Sabalan region is in our path with many mineral springs. We will trek in this intact nature and familiarize with Shahsavan nomads. Also, we’ll set up camp and enjoy local cuisines and traditional foods.

Day 4. Continuing the path from Sardabeh to Ardabil, staying at a hotel in Ardabil (HB)

On day 4, we will accompany with nomads till noon then we’ll have lunch in Sardabeh village. Then we’ll go to Ardabil to visit Sheikh Safi al-Din Khanegah and Shrine Ensemble (a complex full of historical events from Safavid dynasty era). After that, we’ll rest in our accommodation in Ardabil.

Day 5. Moving to Bandar-e Anzali, staying at a beach hotel near Caspian Sea beaches (HB) Caspian seashore hotel

On this day, we have various plans with diverse climates and natural landscapes. We’ll continue our journey from Heyran Mountain passing to Astara and also visit the Caspian Hyrcanian Forests which recently has been registered on UNESCO World Heritage List. We’ll have a boat riding in Anzali Lagoon, so you’ll see the beauty of northern Iran’s nature. At the end of this day, we’ll stay in a Caspian seaside hotel.

Day 6. Moving to Tehran (470 km), staying at a hotel in Tehran (HB)

On our way back to Tehran, we’ll walk in Masuleh Stepped Village. After lunch, we’ll arrive at Tehran and stay in our accommodation in Tehran. Thus our journey to Shahsavan nomads in Sabalan mountain slope will be ended.
